Location and Geography

Nha Trang has consistently maintained its position as one of the most beautiful bays of the world. The town is about 450km north of Saigon and 1200km south of Hanoi. With the 4-km- long main strip of beaches, Nha Trang Bay covers the area of 405 km2 including 19 large and small islands. As viewed from high above, the bay looks like the aquamarine stone sparkling in the sunshine, bounded by miles of smoothly golden sands.

It is a complex of temples erected before about 781A.D. It is the place that tourists can find hundreds of ancient relics displayed inside the complex. This place belonged to the medieval principality of Khauthara, a small country near modern Nha Trang. The four Po Nagar Towers today are truly beautiful and charming. Each of them was built to delicate to a unique deity.

Oceanographic Museum of Vietnam

If you travel to Nha Trang, do not forget to visit the Oceanographic Museum of Vietnam to learn about the beautiful and rare sea creatures housed here. The museum is located at 1 Cau Da St., about 5km from Nha Trang City Center. It is an interesting aquarium with images of Nha Trang’s marine environment. Opened to the public on September 14th, 1922, today it is still a popular destination for both domestic and foreign tourists.

Long Son Pagoda

Long Son Pagoda, also known as Chua Long Son, is situated on the foothill of Trai Thuy Mountain in the city of Nha Trang. The temple is famous for its large white Buddha statue, which sits atop the mountain crest and can be seen from anywhere in town. Built in 1886 in the style of Taoist architecture, Long Son Pagoda has been home to many high-ranking Buddhist monks and the Vietnam Buddhist Studies Foundation was founded here in 1936.

Long Son Pagoda boasts beautiful and unique turn-of-the-century Taoist architecture characterised by the embellishment of mythical animals and sculptures of Taoist gods. It is also a working monastery complete with a school for monks in its grounds. An impressive three-tier roofed entrance, decorated with mosaic dragons, leads to the large temple grounds decorated by potted topiary.

Tram Huong Tower

Tram Huong Tower is an icon of the city of Nha Trang, its literal translation is Agar wood, a type of aromatic wood used in joinery. It is a small tower that stands on a street of Nha Trang city. In the morning, in the vicinity of the Tower Tram Huong, Nha Trang people practiced sport. But the best thing is to see the night Tram Huong Tower, since it is illuminated.

Nha Trang Cathedral

Nha Trang Cathedral is the largest church in the city. Set atop a hill that overlooks Nha Trang Train Station, it was constructed in provincial French Gothic style by Priest Louis Vallet during the early 19th century. A popular spot for wedding and landscape photography, Nha Trang Cathedral is made entirely of stone and features beautiful stained glass windows, as well as a square clock tower that’s surmounted by a large crucifix. There are also hints of Vietnamese influences to the structure, such as pink backlight on the tabernacle, red neon light outlining the crucifix, blue neon on the arch, and a white neon-lit halo atop St. Mary’s statue.
