Y Ty Colors In Flood Season. Curves of terraced fields hug sparkling water, reflecting sunlight and clouds, creating a charm grace of Y Ty in summer.
Y Ty is a mountainous commune, Bat Xat district, about 70 km from the center of Lao Cai city. In winter, this place attracted tourists by sea of white clouds surrounding mountain slopes, creating magical scenery as paradise. In summer, rains bring water to the fields and it is time to prepare a new crop.
Located at an altitude of about 2,000 m, Y Ty terraces stretch on hillsides. On the picture is the curve creating a unique pattern of Khu Chu Lin fields.
When flooding, ethnic farmers begin to make edges and prepare for a new crop. The flooded fields unwittingly become fun places of kids while their parents work hard in the fields.
The flood season in Y Ty lasts from May to June, but there will have rice fields early or late planted, creating different colors.
The flood season and grain season (from August to October) is two pretty favorable time in the year to explore Y Ty Plateau.
On the journey to discover Y Ty, you’ll see some traditional houses of Ha Nhi ethnic people on the terraces. The houses were made of clay, cool in summer and warm in winter. It is characteristic for Y Ty lands.
Apart from Ha Nhi people, Y Ty is inhabited by ethnic groups such as Hmong, Dao, Giay, etc. Every ethnic group has its own living activities that create unique cultural picture for upland Bat Xat commune.
